Storytelling - Stories

Try googling - best motivational speech of all time. You will find Steve Jobs’ commencement speech at the 2005 Stanford University Graduation. He begins by telling the students: “Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories.”

Each story carries a message. The stories were written, planned and practiced, and Jobs managed to use them to convey his message to fresh university graduates stepping into the world. A story is a wonderful element to use as an introduction, to summarize, or anytime throughout the delivery of the content. People love stories, they are easy to remember, easy to retell, as they contain emotion, especially the personal ones. There is no story that cannot be told. You will need to rehearse your story, make sure it really holds the message and supports the idea of the speech, and it will work perfectly.
